Edinburgh Leisure – School Sport Project

We did…

The project required a comprehensive review of the school sport estate, stakeholder consultation, development of a robust business case and  recommendations for the management of community access.

The key deliverables were:

  • Site by site review of schools to determine suitability for different forms of community access
  • Recommend a preferred delivery model and requirements for success
  • Recommend optimum management & governance arrangements
  • Identify efficiencies and revenue opportunities
  • Develop an implementation plan.

They said…

“The school sport project was complex and required an in depth understanding of the subject matter, analytical skills and stakeholder management. There was a lot to deliver in a relatively short space of time. re:creation consulting worked to our brief and delivered on all project objectives in the required timeframe. Throughout the project they were extremely thorough, responsive and demonstrated a high level of professionalism. As a result of their work we are now working with the City Council to progress the transfer of the management of the school sport facilities to Edinburgh Leisure. I would have no hesitation recommending re:creation consulting to others; they delivered for Edinburgh Leisure.”

sportscotland – Facility Audit

We did…

We carried out a comprehensive review of over 50 sports building projects to establish what worked, where there was scope for improvement and how sportscotland advice contributed to the success of the project. Our report included a number of recommendations aimed at improving the ‘how’ and ‘what’ facilities advice sportscotland should provide in future.

They said…

“From expression of interest stage to the completion of the report, they have provided a professional and responsive service. Deadlines have been met throughout the project and their experience and knowledge of the area of study has resulted in a well-researched and presented report. The Facilities Development team would be happy to recommend their work to others.”

Museums Galleries Scotland – Quality Improvement Framework

We did…

We developed a national quality improvement framework and self-evaluation guidance to help museums and galleries assess the quality of their service and identify how they could get better.

They said…

“The consultancy really helped us move this project on. They worked to our brief exactly, which meant they garnered a high degree of trust from ourselves which not all consultants do. I appreciated their pragmatic approach and attention to detail – I would highly recommend them.”

City of Edinburgh Council – Impact Evaluation

We did…

We carried out an evaluation of the ‘Get Up and Go’ project – a programme of social and health &  fitness aimed at over 50’s throughout the city. The study reviewed the campaign reach, take up, value for money and scope for improvement.

They said…

“The consultancy fully met all of the objectives of the project and provided additional information which was relevant to the review. Tim was extremely thorough and professional in his approach, yet he maintained a degree of informality which was of genuine benefit to the project as it promoted a high level of mutual discussion and exchange of information.”

Midlothian Council – Sport and Physical Activity Strategy

We did…

We developed a sport, physical activity and PE strategy. This holistic approach required extensive partner, community and practitioner consultation. The end result was a comprehensive call to action aimed at increasing participation and performance.

They said…

“They provided us with excellent support and guidance tailored to fit our needs. The energy and enthusiasm was also refreshing.”

South Ayrshire Council – Management Options Appraisal

We did…

We carried out a sport and leisure options appraisal to identify the best strategic approach to managing facilities and improving services. The project involved a management options review, performance review and detailed business planning for different scenarios. The study recommended a way forward to help ensure the future financial sustainability of indoor and outdoor facilities.

They said…

“We would recommend the Consultancy to others because of the professional way in which they embraced the requirements of the brief and the high quality of advice and guidance given throughout the engagement.”

Inverurie Sports Development Project – Community Sports Hub and Stadia

We did…

Working with a team of architects and planners we completed a feasibility study which looked at the scope to add a community football stadium and other indoor facilities to an existing sport and leisure centre. We provided needs assessment, business planning and corporate governance advice and support.

They said…

“The information provided in the report was ideal for the purpose of moving the project forward. What we liked was how the Consultancy was able to gather relevant local and national information to support the project. We would recommend the Consultancy to others – they know their subject!”
